MicroCredit Summit Releases Results of New Survey on Microfinance
More than 92 million families, the majority earning less than US$1 a day, received microloans in 2004, nearly a seven-fold increase from the 13.5 million loan recipients in 1997, based on results of a new survey by the Microcredit Summit Campaign released at the United Nations. The UN has designated 2005 as the International Year of Microcredit.
